Penny Poppers

This is a fictional product made for a class. For this project, I had to pick a movie and design the packaging for a candy tie-in. It could be a candy that lives within the film or one sold as promotional merch. I chose to design my candy packaging for the movie IT. I took inspiration from the way the monster of the movie, Pennywise, hides with innocent looking photos and videos. The outside is a bright and happy facade to hide the fact that this paper boat is made out of missing children’s posters. Plus, there’s plenty of hidden details that only fans of the movie will catch. I messed around with a few different box styles before landing on the paper boat design. I designed the posters first and used those a starting point for my mascot. From there, I played around with measurements and getting the dieline to be as accurate as possible. When I had the finished package in-hand, I took some promotional shots to show of the final design.
